
A group of American journalists and media experts visited Agdam
A delegation consisting of a group of journalists and media experts operating in the United States of America visited the liberated territories of Karabakh as part of a visit to Azerbaijan, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Oxu.az, citing the State Committee for Work with Diaspora.
The program of the visit to Karabakh started from the city of Aghdam, also known as the “Hiroshima of the Caucasus”. First, the employee of the Mine Action Agency informed the American guests about the mines that were placed by the Armenian armed forces on the territory of Azerbaijan, including in the Aghdam region during the occupation years, answered the questions of the journalists, and also demonstrated the two surface mine clearance operations.
Then, the delegation was informed about the majority of the historical, cultural, and religious monuments on the territory that were destroyed as a result of Armenian vandalism.
American journalists visited Juma Mosque, the Alley of Martyrs, and the Aghdam Theater, where they were shown photographs of the state of these architectural monuments before the occupation. The foreign guests couldn’t hide their shock.
The guests also got acquainted with the progress of restoration works in the Aghdam district and visited the Aghdam Conference Center, accompanied by employees of the State Committee on Diaspora Work.
The delegation included Azerbaijani journalist Vusala Abbasova, who continues her studies at Yale University and works in the U.S. office of the “Report” Information Agency; Afram Kosafi, the head of the UN office of “Arab News”, representatives of the world’s leading media organizations in the conflict regions of Afghanistan, Iraq and South Lebanon, who has worked for many years as a war correspondent (Fox TV, CNN, Al Jazeera); Paola Vargas, a well-known blogger and correspondent of the well-known television network of the Republic of Colombia (Caracol TV and Canal 1) in New York and the capital Washington; the founder and chief of “Schirach Report” Paolo von Shirac; photojournalist of the U.S. Bureau of Anadolu Agency, Selcuk Acar and the founder of “Turkish Journal” and president of “RC Communications”, a well-known journalist and political commentator Kelvin Dark.
On the first day of the visit to Baku, the delegation held meetings at the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Committee for Work with Diaspora. The guests also got acquainted with the Heydar Aliyev Center and “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architecture Reserve.
