Armenia To Receive Gas Through Azerbaijan For Three Weeks
Russian gas supplies to Armenia will be temporarily carried out through Azerbaijan in connection with the repair of the North Caucasus – Transcaucasia gas pipeline (by which supplies go from Russia through Georgia to Armenia), according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan News, with reference to Interfax and Gazprom Export.
“During the scheduled preventive maintenance work on the North Caucasus – Transcaucasia gas pipeline, Russian gas will be supplied to consumers through the territory of Azerbaijan. On March 16, Gazprom Export and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic signed a short-term contract for the transportation of Russian gas through the territory of Azerbaijan,” the Russian supplier writes.
“The contract stipulates that during scheduled preventive maintenance work on the Russian section of the North Caucasus – Transcaucasia gas pipeline, gas will be supplied to consumers through Azerbaijan to the border with Georgia. The work may take about three weeks. After completion, gas will be transported as before across the border of the Russian Federation and Georgia,” adds Gazprom Export.
So, Azerbaijan made a gesture of goodwill towards Armenia, and whether Yerevan will appreciate it, the near future will show.
