Ilham Aliyev: Refusal of the peace treaty will question territorial integrity of Armenia
Azerbaijan is ready to start the negotiations process with Armenia to sign a peace treaty, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Friday in Shusha at the V Congress of the World Azerbaijanis, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan News.
He pointed out that the treaty can only be concluded on the basis of the five principles proposed by Azerbaijan.
“This is the only solution and the last chance for Armenia. If they refuse, Azerbaijan will declare that it does not recognize Armenia’s territorial integrity,” Aliyev said.
According to him, certain forces in Armenia have still not given up their territorial claims against Azerbaijan.
He also criticized the stance of the Armenian leadership which relies on the OSCE Minsk Group in the negotiations.
“The Minsk Group was actually paralyzed back in 2019,” Aliyev said. The inaction of the MG after the Armenian leadership’s provocative statements about Karabakh belonging to Armenia made its existence meaningless.
