Issyk-Kul 2023 Economic Forum highlights Azerbaijan’s key role in Europe’s energy security

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov has attended the 7th Issyk-Kul 2023 International Economic Forum held in the town of Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting AzerTac.

Addressing the event, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov emphasized that Azerbaijan is pursuing a strategic course aimed at ensuring cooperation, peace and dialogue on a regional and global scale.

Ahmadov noted that as a country located at the crossroads between Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan, together with partners in the region, participates in a whole range of initiatives and projects on developing transport communications and increasing regional and continental trade. He also stressed Azerbaijan’s role as an important link in a number of projects, such as the International North-South and East-West Transport Corridors, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway and others.

The forum participants were briefed about the ongoing work to increase the capacity of the Baku International Sea Trade Port and the construction of the Lachin Airport, which will become the ninth international airport in Azerbaijan and the third in the territories liberated from occupation.

Highlighting Azerbaijan’s key role in ensuring Europe’s energy security, the Deputy Prime Minister noted the valuable contribution of the Southern Gas Corridor, which connects the Caspian region with Europe and to the system of global energy security.

Ali Ahmadov underscored that Azerbaijan has great potential for the development of alternative energy.

Azerbaijan’s Deputy PM commended Kyrgyzstan for its achievements in the socio-economic sphere.
