Mikheil Saakashvili gratefully recalled Azerbaijan’s support for Georgia in August 2008
The former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, who is under arrest in Georgia, gratefully recalled the support of Azerbaijan during the Russian invasion in August 2008, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan.
“Azerbaijan’s role in the events of 2008 has not been sufficiently evaluated,” he wrote on Facebook.
“Azerbaijan provided Georgia with fuel infrastructure and financing, which were crucial for our country to survive,” Saakashvili wrote.
He called this support of Azerbaijan “very important”.
“I want to personally thank Ilham Aliyev and the Azerbaijani people,” Saakashvili said.
