Moscow again offers mediation in normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey

Moscow welcomes the attitude of Reconciliation and Turkey to launch a dialogue on the normalization of relations, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Andrei Rudenko said, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan News, citing RIA Novosti.

“Normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations would undoubtedly contribute to the improvement of the general situation in the region. From this point of view, we welcome the willingness to launch a bilateral dialogue, actively demonstrated by Ankara and Yerevan recently,” Rudenko said.

Russia is ready to become a mediator between Armenia and Turkey in this dialogue “in any form,” he noted.

“At the same time, we consider it important to refuse to put forward preliminary conditions, to focus on mutually acceptable topics and mutual steps that would lead to the gradual formation of an atmosphere of trust and good neighborliness,” he said.

The first meeting of the Armenian-Turkish Reconciliation Commission was proposed to be held in Moscow. However, Ankara offered to hold a bilateral meeting without mediators.
