
Over 81% of Azerbaijan’s gas production is carried out under the operator of BP
The total volume of gas production in January-May 2021 in Azerbaijan amounted to 17 billion cubic meters, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan News, citing the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan.
Over the reported period, the volume of gas production in the country increased by 3.4% or 551.5 million cubic meters.
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) produced 3.2 billion cubic meters of gas (an increase of 6.7%), associated gas from the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli (ACG) block – 5.4 billion cubic meters (unchanged), from the Shah field Deniz – 8.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas (up 5%).
Currently, under the operator of British BP, the ACG and Shah Deniz projects account for 81.2% of all gas production in Azerbaijan.
Over the five months of 2021, the volume of commercial gas production amounted to 12.5 billion cubic meters (an increase of 7.7%), according to the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Ministry of Energy reports that since the start of the development of the ACG block until June 1, 2021, 182 billion cubic meters of associated gas have been produced, and 143 billion cubic meters of natural gas from the Shah Deniz field.
