Provocation by the RIA-Novosti casts a shadow on Russia’s peacekeeping efforts
The dissemination by the Russian state news agency of slanderous and separatist statements that contradict the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan does not correspond to the spirit of friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia and is deeply regrettable.
According to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan News, This was stated by the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Leyla Abdullayeva, responding to a request to comment on the publication by the Russian state agency RIA Novosti on June 3-rd an interview with one of the leaders of the Karabakh separatists Artak Beglaryan.
This step of the state media of the Russian Federation does not comply with the Agreement on Friendship, Security and Strategic Partnership between Azerbaijan and Russia of 1997 and the Declaration on Allied Interaction of 2022, in which the parties pledged to refrain from activities directed against the territorial integrity and inviolability of each other’s borders.
The dissemination of these provocative statements by RIA-Novosti also casts a shadow on the efforts of the Russian Federation to establish peace in the region at the post-conflict stage, the official representative of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry emphasized.
