
Tehran Announced the Start of Supplies of Turkmen Gas to Azerbaijan
Currently, within the framework of the agreement on swap supplies signed between Iran, Azerbaijan, and Turkmenistan, 4-4.5 mcm of gas per day are imported from Turkmenistan to Iran, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan News, referring to Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ouji’s statement yesterday.
According to him, gas imports ensure the stability of the gas market in the country.
On November 28, 2021, Azerbaijan, Iran, and Turkmenistan signed a contract on swap gas supplies in Ashgabat.
According to the document, Turkmen gas will be supplied to Azerbaijan through Iran in the amount of up to 1.5-2 bcm per year. The implementation of the contract began on January 1, 2022.
In turn, a source in SOCAR noted that the first volumes of Turkmen gas will be delivered to Azerbaijan today.
