Western Azerbaijan Community issued a statement regarding the Brussels meeting

Western Azerbaijan Community issued a statement regarding the meeting between the President of the European Council Charles Michel, the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan held in Brussels on July 15, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Oxu.az.

The statement reads:

“According to the information we received, the issue of safe and dignified return of Western Azerbaijanis to their homes was discussed at the tripartite meeting held in Brussels on July 15, 2023. Bringing the issue of our return to the agenda of negotiations on the normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a historical development in the direction of a peaceful solution to this issue in accordance with international law. This further inspires the Western Azerbaijani Community and every Azerbaijani forcibly removed from Armenia to act towards the realization of the right of return.

The West Azerbaijan Community once again declares that the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia to their homes is a celebration of human rights and justice, and is a necessary condition for the establishment of lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

From this point of view, we heartily welcome bringing the issue of the right and security of the return of Azerbaijanis expelled from Armenia into the framework of the Brussels peace process. The Western Azerbaijan Community once again declares its readiness for direct negotiations with the Armenian government, in parallel with the consideration of the return issue in the Brussels peace process, which serves the normalization of interstate relations, and renews its call to the Armenian government for dialogue in this regard.
