Export of Azerbaijani gas from Shah Deniz increased by 44% in January-May

Export of Azerbaijani gas from the Shah Deniz field in the period of January-May 2021 amounted to 7 billion 66.5 million cubic meters, which is 44.2% higher than the same period last year, according to Azerbaijan in Focus, reporting Turan News.

According to the monthly report of the State Statistics Committee of Azerbaijan, the share of gas exports from the Shah Deniz field accounted for 48.3% of the total volume of gas transported through the main gas pipelines during the reporting period.

In general, the main gas pipelines of Azerbaijan exported 14 billion 625 million cubic meters of gas in January-May 2021 (an increase of 8.9%).

Gas from the Shah Deniz field is currently being exported to Georgia, Turkey and Europe.

The contract for the development of the Shah Deniz field was signed in Baku on June 4, 1996 and ratified by the Milli Mejlis on October 17 of the same year. The participants of the Shah Deniz project are BP (operator, 28.8%), Petronas (15.5%), SOCAR (16.7%), LUKOIL (10%), NICO (10%), TPAO (19 %).
